Plant Sale Prep Meeting
We’re getting ready—and set to go for our Annual Flower and Plant Sale on May 13th and 14th. Come make new friends at 6:15 pm while we enjoy treats and announcements. At 7 PM a brief overview about the Sale and how you can help will be presented—more detail will be given at the meeting. This very popular event funds our charitable endeavors, Club programs and activities.

Composting: Building Your Garden from the Ground Up
Composting is the natural process of recycling organic matter, such as leaves and food scraps, into a valuable fertilizer that can enrich soil and plants. Anything that grows decomposes eventually; composting simply speeds up the process by providing an ideal environment for bacteria, fungi, and other decomposing organisms (worms) to do their work. Improving Your Soil the Natural Way!
Ken Benson has his master’s and bachelor’s in horticulture from the University of Illinois. He is a landscape architect and was the host of cable TV’s Landscaping with Ken Benson (1992-2000). He was also a board member of Chicago Flower and Garden Show 1998-2008 and a founding board member of MELA - Midwest Ecological Landscapers Association. Ken is a past member of the Men’s Garden Club of Villa Park and has been giving programs at garden clubs since 1972.

Cantigny Tailgait & Garden Walk

Member Christmas Party, WEDNESDAY 12/14
It’s time for holiday cheer as Bloomingdale Garden Club celebrates with our Annual Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 14th, 2021. Once again it will be held at Jameson’s Charhouse in Bloomingdale. This event is for club members and their families only. Sharpening Garden Tools
We will discuss the myth that gardening tools come from the store sharp. Our presenter, Ken Benson, will use various sharpening stones and show how to sharpen pruners, shovels and all other garden tools. Bring in a tool to be critiqued, sharpened and/or polished.
