Due to the present extraordinary circumstances and restrictions imposed because of COVID 19, the Bloomingdale Garden Club traditional Annual Flower & Plant Sale must be CANCELLED. However, anyone with a Pre-Sale Order will be able to pick up their plants on Thursday, May 14th and Friday, May 15th at the Park District Maintenance Building, 259 Springfield Drive (North End of Springfield Park) in Bloomingdale. Annual Business Meeting
The New Year begins with our Annual Business Meeting. Agenda items include election of officers, review of 2020 activities, upcoming events for 2021 (including our popular Annual Flower and Plant Sale in May), and decisions on where to direct our charitable donations. Victory Gardens
Nina Koziol, adjunct faculty at the Chicago Botanic Garden and Morton Arboretum, and long-time garden writer, will present wonderful background information on gardening history. It's a look at Americans during the world wars. In 1917, food shortages caused rioting in New York City. President Woodrow Wilson called Americans to grow their own food and thus the first "war gardens" were born. During WWII the name was changed to Victory Gardens.
